The training is delivered at the Training in Partnership venue located in the Chantry Centre\, Andover. \nThe Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism is the government’s preferred and recommended training for health and social care staff. It aims to improve understanding of the needs\, experiences and barriers faced by autistic people and individuals with a learning disability when accessing health and care services. \nThis course is delivered in two interactive sessions of three hours each. Both sessions must be attended in order to complete the training and receive certification. \nThe training is designed to develop the knowledge\, skills and confidence of professionals so they can provide more inclusive\, compassionate and person-centred support. DESCRIPTION:Course Overview\nThis training is delivered across two half-day Afternoon sessions. \nParticipants must attend both sessions to complete the course. \nSession 1📅 Wednesday 9th December 2026🕘 13:30 – 16:30 (Arrival 13:15) \nSession 2📅 Thursday 10th December 2026🕘 13:30 – 16:30 (Arrival 13:15) \nOur Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training Andover – Tier 2 course provides essential training for health and social care professionals who support autistic people and individuals with a learning disability. The training is delivered at the Training in Partnership venue located in the Chantry Centre\, Andover. \nThe Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism is the government’s preferred and recommended training for health and social care staff. It aims to improve understanding of the needs\, experiences and barriers faced by autistic people and individuals with a learning disability when accessing health and care services. \nThis course is delivered in two interactive sessions of three hours each. Both sessions must be attended in order to complete the training and receive certification. \nThe training is designed to develop the knowledge\, skills and confidence of professionals so they can provide more inclusive\, compassionate and person-centred support. It explores the importance of recognising individual needs\, making reasonable adjustments and ensuring people are listened to and treated with dignity and respect. \nThe course combines expert-led learning with lived experience input\, helping participants gain a deeper understanding of how to improve care\, communication and outcomes for the people they support. \n\nWho Should Attend\nThis Tier 2 course is suitable for staff who: \n• Provide direct care or support• Work in health or social care roles• Support autistic individuals or people with a learning disability \nExamples include: \n• Support workers• Care assistants• Nurses• Allied health professionals• Social workers• Housing support staff• Senior care staff• Team leaders and managers \n\nCourse Content\nThe training explores key areas including: \n• Understanding learning disability and autism• Health inequalities experienced by people with learning disabilities• Communication differences and sensory needs• Recognising and reducing diagnostic overshadowing• Making reasonable adjustments in care and services• Supporting people with dignity\, respect and person-centred approaches• The importance of listening to lived experience• Legal responsibilities and best practice \nThe course includes: \n• Interactive learning activities• Group discussions and case scenarios• Video content and lived experience perspectives• Opportunities for reflection and shared learning \n\nCertification\nParticipants must complete: \n• The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training eLearning module prior to attending the course• Both face-to-face sessions (two 3-hour sessions) \nAttendance at both sessions is required in order to complete the training. \nParticipants who complete the required eLearning and attend both sessions will receive the official Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training certificate\, recognised across the NHS and the wider health and social care sector. \nThe certificate confirms completion of Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training in Learning Disability and Autism – Tier 2. \n\nGroup Bookings\nIf your organisation would like to send multiple staff members\, group bookings are available. \nMany providers choose to book several places so teams can complete the training together. \nIf you would like to reserve multiple spaces or arrange a closed course for your organisation\, please contact us and we will be happy to assist. \n📧 Hello@traininginpartnership.co.uk \n\nHow the Split Course Works\nThis course is delivered as a split session programme\, allowing participants to complete the training in two shorter sessions rather than one full day. \nThe training consists of: \nSession 1\, Learning Disability – 3 Hours Session 2\, Autism Session – 3 Hours \nBoth sessions are part of the same course and must be completed in order to finish the training. \nParticipants are required to attend both sessions in full to meet the requirements of the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training – Tier 2 programme. \nBefore attending the first session\, participants must also complete the required Oliver McGowan eLearning module. \nThis structure allows time between sessions for reflection while still ensuring participants gain the full knowledge and understanding required by the national training programme. \n\nImportant\nPlease ensure you are available to attend both training dates when booking\, as places are reserved for the full course. \nCertificates can only be issued once: \n• The pre-course eLearning has been completed• Session 1 has been attended• Session 2 has been attended \n
