First Aid Essentials for Babies and Children

First aid essentials can give you the confidence to respond when a baby or child becomes ill or injured. Join us in Andover for a calm, practical and friendly two-hour course for parents, expectant parents, grandparents, babysitters and family members.

Emergencies can happen without warning. However, knowing what to do can help you remain calm, call for appropriate help and provide immediate first aid.

This face-to-face course takes place on Saturday 8 August 2026 at the Training in Partnership Training Hub in Andover. Places cost £25 for one person or £35 for two people.

First Aid Essentials for Babies and Children

Our Child & Infant First Aid Essentials course introduces the practical skills used during common childhood emergencies.

You will learn through clear explanations, trainer demonstrations and hands-on practice. There will also be plenty of time to ask questions.

The course covers:

• How to assess an emergency and call for help

• How to respond to an unresponsive baby or child

• The recovery position

• Baby and child CPR

• Choking first aid for babies and children

• Shock and head injuries

• Fever and febrile convulsions

• Bleeding, burns and fractures

• Anaphylaxis and severe allergic reactions

• Awareness of meningitis and sepsis

Practical Baby and Child First Aid Training

This is an interactive course, so you will have opportunities to practise important techniques in a supportive environment. Our experienced trainer will explain each action carefully and answer your questions.

You do not need any previous first aid experience. The session has been designed to make essential first aid easier to understand and remember.

As a result, you should leave feeling better prepared to recognise an emergency and take appropriate action while professional help is on its way.
